Ratty doll hair

Here's an easy way to make dolls (including Barbies) hair look better! Use this simple technique before bringing your dolls in for consignment! Which one would you buy if you saw it in a consignment store? You will most likely buy the doll on the right; it presents better. You will get more money for your items if you take 30 seconds to do this technique. I've also used a dryer sheet to rub on their hair. This reduces the static, making it easy to comb!

Great ideas.....

Isn't this a simple and creative idea to spruce up the kids bedroom? You can often buy these flowers at craft stores or consignment shops. Just pop off the gem in the middle of the flower and put the dresser knob through it. So easy!!

About the Business

Hello, my name is Kris Ritter and I am the owner of Little Tykes Trading Post.  Little Tykes is a children's consignment store specializing in baby equipment, furniture, toys and clothes from newborn to size 10.  As a business, our main focus is to have a clean, organized shopping environment while providing a bargain for everyone.

As a parent of two, I shopped at consignment stores because I loved to find a good deal.  However, I was often frustrated by the lack of organization, cleanliness, and odor of the stores I was visiting.  This gave me motivation and ideas to open up my own store.  These ideas soon became a reality in 2003, with our grand opening in June.

Small businesses don't have the same name recognition as large corporations do; therefore, we rely on establishing personal relationships with everyone who walks through our door.  This is one thing I love about owning a small business.  I am able to gain new relationships and give back to the community I live in at the same time.  Little Tykes gives back to the community thru donations to the local schools, churches, and shelters.  This is one thing we take pride in, being small yet helping those around us.

Having a small, family owned business means my time is spread thin.  Trying to keep up with the changes in social media provides yet another challenge.  That being said, I will be posting blogs on here  one to two times per month.

Future blogs in June will feature:

  • Simple ways to get rid of stubborn stains out of your kids clothes (both for clothes you are prepping for consignment and those adorable Sunday outfits)
  • Easy storage ideas for all the little toys your kiddos own
